Why You Don't Want Digitals
Digital pictures are an amazing thing. It is absolutely incredible how easy it is to share our moments with people in other cities and countries. We can make as many copies of them as we want and keep them "forever" on our computers or in the cloud.
It may seem logical that when you decide that you want to take professional family pictures you want the digital files. It is often one of the first questions that a client will ask me when they call to inquire about my services.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret-you don't want digital files from your professional photo shoot!!!!
Here is why:
1. For most people digital files, no matter how beautiful, sit on their computers for YEARS before they ever do something with them (if they do something with them at all). It is understandable, everyone is so busy, printing pictures often just doesn't get done.
You don't want to go through all the trouble and expense of having a professional photo shoot, just to have those pictures sitting on your computer! You took pictures of your family or event because you want to have the pictures to enjoy. You want them up on your walls or in a beautiful album. You didn't do all of this just to post them to Facebook and store them in the cloud.
As a professional photographer, I truly believe that it is part of my job to make sure that people walk away with something gorgeous to hold in their hand, enjoy and pass down to future generations.
That is why I spend so much time with my clients, helping them choose their favorite pictures and the best products for them. I want people to walk away from their experience with me with nothing left to do, other than enjoy their pictures!
2. Pictures printed at a professional lab are simply a different caliber than anything printed at a consumer lab. The colours and exposure and all be controlled and if I ever get something back from the lab and I am not happy with, I simply re-print it, without my client needing to worry about anything.
I think that if you are going to hire a professional photographer, you want to final product to look spectacular!
So next time you are getting ready to book a photo shoot, whatever the occasion, don't think about digital files. I am here to do all the work for you and make sure you actual get your pictures, not just your files, to cherish for years to come.
