Why Are Pictures So Important?

So why are pictures so important? People put a lot of time, money and emotion into pictures. Be it family pictures, pictures at an event you made or pictures on vacations. But what about pictures resonates so much with us? Why do we put so much effort into them?

To me it’s about 2 words. LOVE & CONNECTION

In the last week I have two very moving conversations with past clients that illustrate this idea perfectly.

One client messaged me and told me that unfortunately she lost her grandmother in December and the pictures I took for them in the summer were the last pictures she has with her grandmother and of the whole family together. Her words-”You can’t even imagine what the pictures mean to my family”!

Another client, only a few days after their 90 year old father passed away, told me that the whole family has been looking at the pictures we took in the summer, non-stop since he past away. It was very hard to get the whole family together (over 30 people with lots of kids!) and some of them had wanted to push the session off until they weren’t so busy, but they said now they are ALL SO GRATEFUL that they did the session!

This is it! This is exactly why pictures are worth all the effort!

It’s hard to describe what hearing this from my clients felt like. It’s exactly how I felt after I lost my own grandfather. I knew right then that this is why I love pictures so much. This is why it is all so important to all of us!

Pictures make us feel loved. Pictures make us feel connected to family and friends who might live far away from us or may no longer be with us. Pictures are a comfort in hard times.

Pictures are a treasure beyond words and I am so grateful to be able to give this gift to my clients. Pictures remind us, help us and stay with us forever.
